So, is WPA the best solution?

The best native way currently for the SOHO AP's. VPN or radius authentication using something like EAP or LEAP would be better but not particularly affordable solutions. As long as your password for your WPA setup is long, like longer than 20 characters, you can feel pretty secure about your WLAN.
