Kids AMD vs P4 - whetstone dhrystone???

Are the whetstone and dhrystone CPU benchmarks good for compairing processors? My friend just dumped a bunch of money into a 2.6 P4 800fsb pc and my 2400+ rolled it up nice and tight in a cigar and smoked it in these two benchmarks.

Are AMD's really that much better? My whetstone score was more than double his.

Do these benchmarks favor AMDs or is the AMD just a better processor?

All I know for sure is that the tears of the P4 owner tasted oh so sweet. Ah the tears of defeat!!!

most excellent f1oored! most most excellent! i do not think this is favored by amd as it appears to be heavily clock speed dependent... and that department belongs to the p4 lineup.

i wonder what my 3600+ gets on those two benches. must download sandra...

These show the opposite unless the 2400+ is faster than a 2600+

My 2400+ is OCed to 2190mhz. My score on the whetstone was around 6900 and my friend's P4 (running stock because he is afraid to ruin a $200 CPU) scored less than 3000. Even with the HTT turned off, he still scored less than 3000.

We used fresh diagnose cpu benchmark.

Even if he does OC his P4 I doubt he is going to make up nearly 4000 points.

like i said stroyal - it is highly dependent on cpu speed... so a thoroughbred b might outscore a barton if the clock speed is greater with the tB.
