Can't get my computer game to work!

i recently bought railroad tycoon 3 for $47 and came home installed it and tried to play but got 2
error message that won't let me play the game. they are as follows....

The D3D8.DLL file is linked to missing export DDRAW.DLL:UnlockCB.

2nd error message......

C:\program files\Railroad Tycoon 3\RT3.exe A device attached to the system is not functioning.


what's wrong? is it my game or my computer that has the error?

those are directX problems try updating your video drivers and direct x

how do i do that?

i tried to go under control panel-system-device manager-sound, video and game controllers to update the video driver but i don't seem to have one?

LOL you need a video driver in order for you video card to display stuff on your moniter. Try right clicking on the desktop, then hit properties, then go to the settings tab, then on the bottom right go to the advanced tab, hit the adapter tab, and then the properties tab, and then the driver tab. Once there it should say the driver date. If it is older then a couple of months update it. IF you dont know what the manufacture is of your card or what kind it is, after you hit adapter tab it should give you information about your card. use this to help you with your update. Another thing u most likely need at least Direct X 8 or even Direct X 9. If you have neither or did not install it when prompted while installing the came go to the micrsoft website and download it or go find it on the game cd.
