anybody know if you can hook up an xbox to be controlled with a keyboard and mouse? I've heard of people using xbox controllers on their pc, and figured, since the xbox is basically a computer, can you go the other way around and hook up a mouse/kb to play xbox games.
also, i've heard of people installing xp on xbox - if this is the case, again, can you go the other way and play xbox games on your pc???
u can get a usb adapter (or u can build one) to go from your pc to a controller port
Xbox controllers are essentially usb devices.
There are restrictions however on the xbox, but there are a few work arounds. In a couple of games there are big glitches where u can get data to be sent to the xbox (I think 007: Agent Under Fire is one of them).
Otherwise, you can install a mod chip on the xbox... which are fiarly hard to acquire.. international deliveries (sold by companies in taiwan and japan and stuff). Also, installing the darn things is kind of hard too b/c u have to solder 15 or so pins to the motherboard of your xbox.
Nonetheless, if you are able to do either of these I have heard of installing linux on xbox.. never heard of XP but it might be possible.
If you are able to get an OS on the system you can probably use a keyboard (I would thikn you'd have to in order to actualy use the OS).
Thanks, so if i hooked them up, is there something i have to do (or can do) to configure the keyboard and mouse for use with xbox games? Like being able to control the crosshairs with a mouse? Or setting up keyboard commands to change weapons? Or go into inventory screens? Is any of that possible?
I found this page:Claw for XBOX and started drooling. I don't think it ever materialized though. I don't have an xbox, and won't buy one until there is a keyboard / mouse solution.
