SD-RAM 100 and 133

hi there,

i have two sd ram cards one is a 256 with 100, one sided and the other one is a 256 with 133, double sided ok now my problem, when i use only the double sided one my pc wont start (or crashes while loading windows or linux). when i use both, it does the same thing, it only works with my one sided card.

so can i fix this? and how?

i tried to set both cards to 100 but the problem is i cant find that option in my BIOS

The PC133 is probably NOT PC100 backwards compatible. It probably has "high density" chips. It used to be PC133 could be used w/ PC100 boards, but not w/ newer PC133 chips.

If the 100 runs it is not the speed. The 133 would just run at 100.
It might be high density memory in a low density board.

What is your FSB set to run at?...100 or 133 Mhz

Or could it quite simply be that the motherboard just doesn't accept double sided modules.

ya..if it wont work with the 256 chip by itself it probably is just an incompatible ram stick as far as the motherboard goes.

Some boards wont do double sided

if it is you might be able to fix that with a simple bios flash, check out the manufacturers website

is this possible without a floppy diskette?

I have a similar problem with my mini-itx board...it has a stick of 512mb 100/133, but only 256mb recognized. I need to flash the bios, but all instructions are for floppy diskettes...can I do that on cd-rw or usb flash drive?

(I'm sorry if this might be construed to be a thread crap...my problem is similar to the one presented, and I am just hoping that two birds could be killed with one stone)
