Xbox Connect

I'm looking into getting an Xbox live subscription, but I've been told about a different service outside of MS called xbox connect. I checked out their site and they say that it's software downloaded to a PC that when connected to the xbox "fools" it into thinking its starting a system link game, when its actually playing over the internet. It sounded a little sketchy to me. Does anyone use this or know of anyone who does who could tell me more about it? I dont see whats wrong with the normal Xbox live service.

Edit- it seems that theres a free version of the software, and a "pro" version that costs $15.

Sounds a lot like gamespy to me. Yes it works too. I use Gamespy quite a bit to play Halo online with other people. I'd gow with Gamespy vs Xbox Connect. They've been around quite a while and have a big user base.

I've played xbox connect and gamespy.. I can share a little bit of experiances

Problem with gamespy is you have to pay to get rid of ads and crap. Also, on gamespy I found there to be a very large # of newbs, wasnt that fun sometimes.

xbconnect has a much smaller userbase, but the free version of the program works good and its easy to use. Many of the people on there think they're god though...which makes it more fun to beat them =).

Overall I like xbc better... but now I also have xbox live via a 2 month free subscription.. and its quite cool. Much easier to find games... and the headset makes it a heck of alot more fun. I was skeptical at first with xbox live, but I think I might buy the 1 year subscription for 50 dollars after my 2 months free runs out.

I have had Xbox Live for a while now and its really good not laggy or if it is it isnt bad. You will find that for games other then halo (halo doesnt work on xboxlive) there are alot more ppl playing them on xbox live and the chance of having a good game with different ppl is better. I used the free gamespy and free Xboxconnect they are both good, i like xbox connect better personnaly but if you have the money to buy xbox live to spare then i would go for it its great to have for good online matches and downloads it is especially great if u have counterstrike which i just got and love lol. i would deffinatly get xbox live over the free downloaded versions if u plan on playing xboxlive enabled games often

Ya, I use xbox connect for Halo and thats about it, however with Halo PC out now I rarely play Halo for xbox now

I just activated my 2 month free xbox live trial that came with counterstrike and i must say I'm impressed. The quality has been consistantly better than anything I've experienced playing PC games online, and its not a big hassle to set up like I expected. I was a bit skeptical too. I'm satisfied with xbox live, its my parents that want me to use xboxconnect because its free. They were giving me a year subscription for chirstmas, but now theyre trying to get me to use this free service once the trial is over. Indian givers!
