W2k Pro locks the user out ???

It seems like after a set amount of time, W2k pro will lock me out for some reason. I've disabled the screensaver, turned the power management options to always on, and checked the local security policy. I couldn't find anything, and I still get locked out everyonce and awhile. Any ideas? I had the Administrator check the domain security policy and there is nothing there either. Any ideas?

Is it the the Windows Screensaver passord or some other way?

If the screensaver, there may be other policies besides Domain Policy that are taking affect.

Via Miscrosoft's site you can get gpresult.exe which will show all the policies being applied and may help you to find out which one is causing this behavior.

By locked out do you mean the workstation locks or the account gets locked out and you have to unlock it?

If it is getting locked out you may have something running as that user with an old/wrong password.

It locks the computer just like when you hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and click the lock computer button. It isn't the screen saver either.

To my knowledge there isn't a W2K setting to lock the machine automatically except the screen saver. All other ways I know of are 3rd party software or MS add ons that force complete logout.

edit -> okay, I though of another way. If there was a batch file that contained %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation and it was set to run at idle then that could also lock the workstation. This would not be something done accidentially though.

DAT files are up to date. Last night while thinkinb about it, I wonder if I'm trying to be hacked, and after a few failed attempts the computer locks itself. I'll check the settings one more time today.

After a few failed logons the account would normally be disabled but I don't think that would lock the screen (but I'm not sure).
