Power on via USB?
I have an Asus A7N8X and the power button is a little screwed, it get stuck sometimes and autopowers off, I have to use a screwdriver to get the button out again, I had a board before that i could turn on the pc with a PS2 keyboard or mouse, I tried that with my current system, but didnt work... now I have a USB Wireless Duo... and Im tired of pulling back the button....

I believe you can enable that feature in the BIOS. I can check my system later (also A7N8X) if you are unable to find it.

Why dont you spray a little wd40 on the power button? Unplug power first, position a cloth on inside of case to catch any excess, work the button a few times to make sure it's loose. Then plug back in.
That's what I do when they start sticking.
Just make sure you wipe off any drips from inside case...

The problem is the spring that pushes back the button..... I partially solved the problem, I enabled a clock based power on, I put an hour that I usually arrive home....

washe,
I took a look at my own motherboard/manual:
If you refer to section 2.7 in the A7N8X Deluxe manual (page 20 in book, page 34 of 124 if you use the PDF), there are 3 jumpers you might want to look at. (USBPWR_12, USBPWR_34, USBPWR_56)
See if that helps with anything. You might want to check the previous page to power your computer on with the spacebar (I'm not sure if that's what you want or not.)
Also, you might want to go into the bios settings (integrated peripherals) and enable "USB Legacy Support" (keyboard).

Unless you use the reset switch every time you use the machine...swap the reset switch for the power on switch.. they are the same switch.
I have a buddy that loves to experiment with electronics..and he has a machine setup to where he can turn it on or off using an old TV remote. He had to remove the remote channel selector from a TV, then with a relay?.. I think connected to the channel selector, he could energize or de energize that relay..which was connected to the two pins on the motherboard to turn the machine on or off. Pretty neat..watching him turn the machine on from a different room.
Model cars, airplanes..boats type radio controllers could be adapted to do the same thing.

- rp | mmm thanks time to RTFM, I will try that...
Bovon changing switch sounds good, but the problem I have is that the front cover is very fragile and I fear ill will break it, i could replace the relay of the switch in the back.... my bro is an electric guy.... the tv remote power on would be cool.... |
