civ3 problems?

I inistalled civ3 gold edition on my celeron 1400, 128 ram, 40 gb hard drive, and intergrated intel direct agp 3d graphics card with 11 mb memory. When i try to play the atari intro works fine, but after that i get a blank screen with music playing. I dont understand why this happens. please help

i figured it out. my friend was using an old monitor so we tried his sisters new dell monitor and the game worked fine. then we went to ripoff usa and got a new one.
