Systems Suspicious stuff

Hey what the heck is "xmasdrummer" this is a fairly new installation of win 2003 server and in the location column I saw this... what do you people think?

My problem is that the system just (randomly?) decides to shut down. It goes through the full shutdown procedure. Does it have a log I can see to see what proggie shut it down? I'm very new to server '03.

Thanks!

Logo.sys is the splash screen at startup, I believe. Do you have some special holiday theme thing going on?

That file can be opened w/ MSPain. Just look and see what it is. It's a startup/shutdown logo.

Have you installed any other software besides Server2K3?

well I did look at them... they are poor quality christmas pictures.
mostly poorly cut manger scenes... hmm the plot thickens.
I did a housecall scan and didn't find any viruses, ran spybot and adaware. nothing I hadn't seen before ...

Try moving the xmasdrummer directory to your TEMP directory and reboot. See if it doesn't reappear or anything like that. If everything seems to run okay, just delete 'em.

Control Panel
Adminstrative Tools
Event Viewer

That's for 2K/XP, I'm sure it's the same w/ 2K3.

Have you got View System/Hidden files turned on? Be sure to show Protected Operating System files and File Extensions of Know File types as well. Look in Folder Options.

well folks I figued out the stupid shutdown problem.
It was a service, SBCORE that was shutting down. It was just to force a user into installing all of its server crap, to keep someone from just using it as a regular OS. Crap on you Microsoft! If someone buys a $700 server os why are they so pissy as to not let you use it like you want? No flavor of xp cost that much for one machine!
anyway loaded all that crap and everythings ok now ... I hope!
