Best video card for $100?

Alright folks. I'm looking to upgrade my video card, FINALLY!! I'm on a tight budget, so I'm trying to keep it around $100. I want a card that if I want to, I can play a really demanding game, such as the new Prince of Persia game, (thanks for getting me hooked, Martoch!) Any suggestions?

Most any of the ATI 9000 series will play demanding games. Will they play them well??? I had a 9000 Pro 128mb and it played everything. I just got a 9600XT and it plays everything a lot better.

Personally, for 100 bucks. I would go for an ATI 128mb DDR card. They have a couple different ones for sale on Tigerdirect.com. You also might be able to pick up a decent used card somewhere.

It'll be a new venture for me, for i've been partial to nvidia. But i'm always willing to try something new. I was looking at the 9600 pro, but a little out of my price range. I still might "force" myself to get it! Thanks for the help!

a 9600non-pro should be around $100, or a gf4 ti 4200

Check if you can find a GF4 Ti4200 at that price range (you should -- check www.pricewatch.com do a search look for different stores then go to www. ressellerratings.com and check if the store is good and buy!)

Or you can always go with the GeForce FX5200U which has DX9 support but I still would prefer the GF4 Ti4200.

i would say to not consider the 5200 at all. either the plain 9600 or maybe what eagle suggests.

128MB 5600s can be found for $100 these days (if you like using AA/AF these cards have the advantage). Also they overclock very well too- memory overclocks as high as 1Ghz have been achieved.
