Waiting for my vid card

I just bought a eVGA fx5900se and i was wondering if the power supply cable is really required to go in the video card? i only have a 300W power supply is that enough?? if i buy a new power supply is there a danger to my pc? never done this before.

1.2 Ghz Asus A7V133
384 MB PC133 RAM

How hard is it to change a power supply??

Your current PSU should suffice.

Changing out a PSU is rather simple as well. Unplug everything, remove the 4 screws then put the new one in and screw it back in. Plug everything back in and jump for joy!

Yes it should be plugged in, but I dont think you need to do it for the card to work. It powers the fan on the card I think.
