Systems Newbie to RAID - Help with Setup

Hi,
I have an ABIT KR7A-133 running Windows 2000. Currently there is a 40 GB hard drive that was setup as the main drive. I have since aquired two 60 GB drives and installed them. I ran the RAID configuration and they are recognized and apear to be working. I would like to leave the system as it is and use the RAID drive as storage for editing home videos. I plan to run the editing software on the original drive and store the output on the RAID drive. Can I do this with out reformatting the original drive? If so, how do I go about formatting the new RAID drive?
Thanks

You shouldn't have to format your 40GB drive. That's where 2K is installed correct? Just install the software to the 40GB like you would anything else.
As for your RAID array, you just need to create a partition and then format it.

Does the Raid drive appear in "my computer"? if so you would just format it from there...or you might have to run "fdisk" from a dos prompt to put a partition on it.

Otherwise I suppose in w2000 you need to go to "disk management" or is it "drive management"? (this is terrible, I am MCP on W2k, lol)

Hi,
Thanks. I do not see the new drive in the My Computer window. I have not been able to find Disk Management. I have looked in the Accessories window and searched for Dick Management.

I can only see my C: Drive (I also see the removable drives), but do not see the new drive.

Post a screenshot of your Disk Management.

Just do an ALT+PRTSCN and paste it into MS Paint, then save as .jpg
