problem with Asus, and memory

Ok, here's the deal. I have an Asus A7N8X board. It's a great board, hasnt done me wrong yet. I got 2 sticks of 256 DDR2700 Corsair ram running at dual ddr.

I just ordered another stick of Corsair ram, cept this one is 512 DDR3200. I plugged it in and everything came up fine, the system recognized the memory and everything. I walked away from the computer to let it boot up, and when i got back it was froze.

I restarted it and it said "System Failed Memory Test". So i took the 512 out, and it worked fine. Then i reseeding and switched the memory sticks around and everything to no avail. I even just put the stick of 512 in there by itself and i still get the message. I mean my computer isnt screwed up, it works just like it did before. But i dont know if I should RMA this memory, or if there is something Im not trying.

ok, dual ddr needs two matching RAM sticks right? So obviously you cant run the two sticks in dual mode PLUS the one new stick...that wont work..but the new stick should work fine...and I would think you would be able to use the new stick with the old sticks but of course theyd all need to be running at pc2700 speeds. Maybe it is just a matter of getting it in the right slot? Arent there certain slots for dual and then certain slots of single?

Are there any memory jumpers or bios settings to switch between dual and single?

Do you have another system you could test the 512 stick in?

i gotta find another system to try the memory in. But yea, i know it wouldnt work with dual ddr. thats why i tried the single stick of ram by itself to no avail. Maybe i have a bad stick of ram or maybe i need to update my bios? I'm not to sure if i should do that or even how to do it.

Wouldnt think youd need to update bios.....you COULD try to just reset the bios with the reset jumper.
