one cpu hotter than another???

i have 2 comps one is an amd 2000 at 1.63, and the other is an amd 2400 at 2.0, the 2000 has a thermaltake volcano 11 on it and the 2400 has the stock heatsink and fan and for some reason the 2400 runs cooler even when my 2000 has the fan on highest setting

Amd Heat!

Do older AMD's run hotter?
Are you using thermal-compound paste as directed?

What sort of temperatures? My XP2600 hits 45-50c heatsink/fan or water-cooling. I have no problems, as long as temp is within safe limits, don't worry.

Is the 2000 a Palomino core? These run hotter than the Thoroughbred B to begin with, even at a lower clock.

If its running hotter its prolly the Palomino, that model I believe they used both cores at the same clock (I've got a xp 2000+ which is a thoroughbred A core).

The Palomino's vcore is higher, thus it tends to put out more heat.

Although with a Volcano 11, thats pretty overkill for that processor, so you'd think it would be really cool, perhaps the ambient temperature of the case is warmer on the older one (fewer case fans perhaps).

little program called CPU-Z works quite well, do a google search and I'm sure you'll find a download of it quickly.

Those temps arent bad at all though
My T-Bred xp 2000+ runs at around 110-115 degrees with a Volcano 7 and i never have any problems.
