Cooling Fans

I am knew to this so bear with me. I am looking at a case that will allow the addition of 2 80mm fans. Some fans indicate they are for case fronts and some for case backs. Is there really any difference in how they are mounted? Should this be a concern?

The fans are the same, but front ones usually blow in and back ones blow out. It's all in how you mount them.

can they usually be mounted either way? Is it best to have some blowing in and some blowing out?

All the fans I've ever seen can be mounted both ways.

"Normal" ventillation setup is to have one (or more) fans blowing (cool) air into case at bottom/front, and one (or more) fans drawing (warm) air out at the top/back.

There are lots of variations, and some setups can get away with a single, exhaust fan at the upper/rear. Other rigs, especially folks with more powerfull CPUs and higher end video cards, add all kinds of intake and exhaust beyond the bottom/front+top/rear.

Variations include a "blow hole" exhaust at the top of the case, a side panel "blow hole" bringing air in and blowing down onto the CPU and/or video card.

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty handy with tools so I think I make them work.

the best idea would be too have an equal number of fans at the front (pulling air in) as the back (blowing air out). fans can be mounted either way. i've got 4 fans in my case and they work so well it heats up my room.

Naw.... it's the CPU that heats your room
The fans just move the heat out of the box... love those Athlons in the winter!

If your lookin for a case and cooling fans get an astak at least i think thats their name yea it is astak. They keep the chip and componets so cool that a intel 3.2ghz can perform at a massive 4ghz. I know it sounds impossable i thought so too but when i talked to a person online that was a sales man he told me it's how cold the case is. The case i was told keeps it at under -22 C which is frezzzzzzin. The case itself is 500$ though
