Jumping ship!!!

Going to make the switch from Windows to Linux. Got an older version (SuSE 7.0 Pro) to learn with. Any pointers? - I.E. hardware requirements, networking, etc)...

Thanks...
Al

7.0 & 7.1 were pretty bad;

>7.2 on it was better, 8.0 was buggy,

8.1 (well, still using it on this here box)

8.2 much better

9 is excelent --give SuSE 9 a try,

You can FTP install for free if you have fast Internet connection. If you find a Linux users group in the local area perhaps you can get the CDs for free too.

Thanks for the input, CMonster. I have a long road ahead learning this new OS. But I beleive it will be better than the Gate's scandal...

You are evil...... same thread starter.....

but about jumping ship....

It's good and refreshing testing a new specially when MS is so flawled.... but dont expect to be easy.. some stuff will require that you actually get involved in researching how it works.....

So give it some time.... It will be very rewarding at end all you learned...

I would take CMonster's suggestion and get SuSE 9. It is a great OS for someone that is used to using Windows.

SuSE 9 Pro comes with 5 CDs and a double sided DVD

order direct

This special UPDATE version is designed for users who already have a previous version of SuSE LINUX installed. The contents of the box are the same as SuSE LINUX Professional 9.0 with the exception of the manuals. This package contains a printed Administration Manual rather than the full printed manual set found in the other box (the rest of that documentation is on the discs in .PDF format however).
