Changing IRQ settings...

Can anyone give me some pointers on changing my IRQ settings? My problem is this: My RAID monitoring utility and my SB Audigy 2 share the same IRQ and they conflict. I would change the slot my Audigy 2 card is in, but it fits best where it is in the case (cable length, other hardware interference, etc.).

System:
MSI KT3 Ultra RAID
MSI GeForce 4 video
SB Audigy 2
AMD XP2200
1.0 GB DDR RAM

(XP Pro)

Any hints are appreciated.

Al

Hint: Tell us what OS you're using.

One of the most important things, and I forgot it. Sorry.

XP Pro...

Also, disable all non used serial ports, LAN anything you're not using, in the BIOS. Win XP will reassign IRQ's for you.

Hardly. IRQ sharing is perfectly fine. It's a PCI _feature_, and a mandatory one to begin with. If you got problems with a device, investigate in the direction of driver and software problems.

Now, Creative has a long and "impressive" track record of putting out crap drivers that spend way too much time in its interrupt handler routines. This tends to screw up operation of everything on the same or a lower priority interrupt level.

Besides, if the system uses APIC (note: not ACPI!) interrupt controllers, there is no reassigning interrupts at all anymore. Everything is hardwired there.
