lol i was searching about the motherboard i just got, ecs l4vxa2, and i ran into your thread, and now i just made an account to answer your question
so anyways, it DOES MATTER!!!! what speed ram you have, the reason your computer is at 1.6, is because of the multiplier, 133 * 12 = 1600 = 1.6 ghz. so if you want to use your chip at 2.4, i suggest you get at least pc 2700 ram, hope this helps peace
Oclocking always entails a higher mem speed then your stock fsb rate less you have a multi unlocked cpu. So its commen knowledge to get next level of mem over current stock spec. Been that since-well the begining. Heck my 486's were oclocked but EDo and fast page mem was so much more a pain than clocking with ddr and sdr is. Then you had to have gold contact mem to gold socket or silver traces to silver or else the stupid things would corrode in time. LOL how many of those sits. I delt with back then. THANK GOD for standard formats now.
P.S. welcome to TIMO. Grab a chair and stay a while-hehe.
