Should i use the AMD retail Fan

Building myself a new system, I have the case, etc for it to run really cool, my question is should i use the AMD fan that comes in the retail box or go for a better fan like the ones from thermal take, etc.

Thanks!

Go for another one. There's plenty of fans out there that can do better than an AMD stock fan.

the stock fan should be adequate if you aren't going to OC it.

i would put it on and check your temps. if you think it's too high, you can always buy a replacement. might as well use it, after all you already paid for it.

Is that artic silver crap still the best stuff to use?
Also i installed a spacer on my last processor, do they really help in cpu stress like they say they do? Seems to make since to me.

Also the new CPU is the 3000XP

arctic silver is fine (i still have a nearly full tube...it's what i use). there are some other new compounds that supposedly work better or as good.

shims aren't really necessary, imo. the amount of pressure you put on the core is really dependent on the HS/F you use.

As PresterJhon said the stock HS/F combo is fine if you are not OCing, you just have to make sure that you have good case air flow.
You can always run it and check your temps, if they are too high in your opinion, than you can get a new fan, its not really costing you that much money.

On a related note, the 3000XP is still too much $$ for the performance it gives. You should consider the 2500XP.

the 3000 is on its way, but thanks for the suggestion. I guess i will run the stock fan for now, the case i got has some pretty good air flow and temp monitoring so i can keep a close eye on it.
