Just got the 9600SE

I just purchased this vid card (cause circut city siad i could exchange it till the end of january to upgrade if i dont like it) and also need for speed underground to test. But anyways it work well and i dont see any lag or sags works well i benchmarked and got a 6500 on 3dmark2001se but anyways if there is a diffrence in cards where is it and where can i give it the ultimate test. I though NFS underground should have been a good test if there is what is it.? But other then that this card works great

The 9600SE is a marketing gimmic. It is severely restricted by it's 64bit memory bus. Looking around the internet, it looks like that 6500 score in 3dmark2001se is about normal . If I were you I would take it back and get a real 9600.

With a processor like that it'd be foolish not to get a good card to go along with it.
Either a $150 9600 Pro or $190 5900 will do.

Just to give you an idea about how the 9600Pro performs ...
My 9600Pro scored around 11000 with XP1900+/1GB/WinXP... nothing OCed, all default speeds ...
Its too bad that you bottlenecked your powerful system with such a low end video card.

I would get the Pro version if i were you ...

9600pro is 400/300 MHz core/RAM, using 128-bit RAM.
9600SE is 325/200 MHz using 64-bit RAM.

So with one third the RAM bandwidth, it isn't really surprising that it should be about half as fast, or is it?

9600pro is currently being replaced with 9600XT, which is 500/300 and performs even better - at no extra cost.

Ya the SEs are quite below bar.. I get a score of around 10,000 with a ti4200 from a year and a half ago, and an amd xp 2000+ all running at default speeds

That is kinda low. With my 2600/512mb/Xp and a 9700 i get like 16000.
