Food hi people, new here, building new comp, need help!

hey i just found this site browsing the net searching the net for some info...
anyway i just spent about 4bills on a new comp for christmas and i thought it would go all smooth .. get the parts ..connect ... and enjoy... but i've been having some problems and its driving me crazy...
what i bought:
P4 2.66ghz/533bx cpu intel boxd845epil mboard (motherboard/proc combo)
(478-pin motherboard mATX 3-pci; 4x AGP; ac'97 audio intel pro 10/100lan usb2
--
the first ram i got for it was 256mb of ecc reg.. then i found out it was not compatible because the computer kept beeping 3 times everytime i booted it... and then i got some munchi one (or whatever) and now the computer doesnt beep anymore, so now i know the ram is compatible...
--
tower: fudin ATX298WST 350W...

i hooked everything up .. motherboard.. proc in place.. ram in place i hooked up the power supply to the motherboard... put in my radeon ddr 32mb card in... and i was going to try to use my old HD and hook it up to this and try to reinstall all the new drivers needed...(not really sure if that would work)... it was just till i get a 120gig to replace that one...
anyway to get to the problem now.. when i turn on the computer the fan starts up nice.. there is no beeping i hooked up the monitor to my card and i get no video what so ever... the only thing i get is like some static type visuals over the screen once like ever second...
i dont really know what the problem is, my best guess is that i havent hooked up something correctly cable wise with the tower/motherboard...
---
tommorow i will make time to go down to frys and get the 120gig hd to see if thats the problem...
if anyone has any idea of what i might have done wrong , any help would be greatly appreciated...
thanks

well if your not getting any video whatsoever it can't be HD related because you should still get to the BIOS and POST screens...Im guessing its something between your video card and mobo...dont quote me on that tho

um... as far as the restart button goes and the big button infront that 'should' turn the comp on and off that doesnt work eighter... the way i turn on the comp is with the power button on the back...
which is weird maybe i missed something when it came to hooking up that part... or maybe its the original problem that affecting that too... any input?

are you sure you connected the power button up to the mobo right? Sometimes you have to turn the plug around for it to work...

well the way the case came all i saw was 1 power plug that stood out from the rest and originated from the front of the tower so i took that and hooked it up to the supply to give it power.. is there another cable i overlooked that should go directly to the mobo, also there is 2 cables comming from the front but those are for 2 USB slots in the front so i didnt even bother plugging those in...(not like i know where) but i didnt think it would matter i dont need those right now anyway right? or could that effect the process too?
