Finance How To Change Color Of Cases...

Ok am thinking about buying a Platinum XP off of colorcases.com
http://www.colorcases.com/Cases/platinumxp.htm
And I want to dye the front of my DVD-ROM drive to the matching black and also the rest of the silver 'free slots' black too. What will i need and how would i go about it?

simple plastic dye can be used, or you can dismantle the front of your drive and spray paint it with a good quality paint ( which is what I did to match my drives with my case....chameleon paint ).

vinyl dye..very easy to use and it will look PRO!

only way to possibly go wrong is to spray it on too thick....DONT try to get it all on 1 coat...dont even try..cuz this stuff will SOAK in....so hold the can like 2 feet away and just get a lite coat covering like 75% of the surface...let it dry a bit..then do it again etc....you dont want it to be thick and "pool up" etc.....I made that mistake the first time I used it and it looks sort of "milky" even though it was black.

next time I learned my lesson and I used lite coats....took several coats to get 100% coverage but it looks FACTORY!

I got mine from the auto parts store....same stuff they use on vinyl car seats...also walmart has it and I think its called Krylon "fusion"

colorcase???? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I was going to let that first thought go...and not post, but then I saw the other posts that also say NOT COLORCASE! Surely you can find a case at newegg? directron? Anywhere but colorcase. Run, I say.

On topic, I have had good luck using the vinyl dye paints (previously mentioned here) for the cases and matching drives to the fronts of my cases.

wow! That vinyl dye stuff does a FANTASTIC job on the plastic parts.

Now, for painting the metal parts of a case... Using regular paint, what grit sandpaper would be best for the final sanding right before priming & painting?
