problem backing up dvd's legally

i am trying to back up some of my dvds on my new dvdrw i got for christmas
(yes, suprisingly i am trying to do it legally, im not copying rented or borrowed movies... well not this time)

this is my first time trying to use my new rw. i know that dvds are encrypted, but every dvd that i try to run in dvd shrink or dvd x copy says error, copy protection, this disc is enccoded or something like that...

any suggestions?

Even with DVDShrink? Try the newest one out which is beta and see if that works. With the newest DVDShrink I just ripped Meet the Parents and then backed it up to a DVD and it worked fine.
