Help getting sub to work w/ audigy 2

I have an Audigy 2 platinum. I have a subwoofer that I want to hook up to it. It's a home theater sub, not specifically for computer use. It has an RCA input and left and right speaker wire inputs (not sure exactly what to call them, the black and red connectors). I just wondered if there is a way to hook that up to my audigy 2 along with my other speakers. I have some old cambridge soundworks 2.1 speakers. They plug into the line out 1 jack. Any help would be appreciated. If you need any more info, I'll be glad to give it to you. Thanks

Lee

does the left and right speakers connect to the subwoofer box? if so, then you just need a cable with this configuration:

left & right RCA male <--> stereo phone jack

connect the RCA males to subwoofer RCA input (should be female) and then the other end which is a stereo phone jack to the audigy 2 Front sound output.

stereo to RCA male

check this model: HOS CMR206

My cambridge speakers connect into the small sub that came with it, but when I run it through the big sub that I want to use, they aren't very loud, so the bass of the sub drowns them out. I guess i was just wondering if there was a way to get just the sub signal to go to the woofer. I see what you're saying about the RCA to stereo cable, but that wouldn't get me just the low frequency signal to the sub. I just didn't know if there was a way to use the other outputs on the audigy card to use for just the low frequency.

i dont know much about speaker systems but i think the compatibility between two different speaker is the issue. you know the cambridge speakers are not designed to work on the big subs. imo.

Yeah, I see your point. I guess I could use the hookup you suggested, but it wouldn't do much good unless I had some speakers other than the cambridge's.

So, can i assume that the only speakers that take advantage of those ports on the audigy 2 are specifically designed 5.1, 6.1, etc. speaker systems?
