geforce 3 ti 400 - garbled graphics

i just upgraded and got an abit geforce 4 ti 4200, my problem is when i now run some high end games, there are ranhdom objects appearing on screen, garbled text, random color shading. Sometimes games work for a while, and then get this weird thing happening...

im running an xp2000+
windows xp sp1
geforce 3 ti 200
latest gfx drivers
256mb SDRAM
300W power supply

I'm guessing these last two items are the most likely causes for the problem... what do u recommend?

New or used abit card?
Some folks claim better performance with older nVidia Det. drivers.
I'm still running the version 4.3 dets with good results with my Siluro .
Have you tried any of the older nVidia drivers?

I'm pretty sure that the GF4 Ti series recommends a minimum of 350w ps. If you received the card in the retail box, check the power requirements.

Okay, now I'm confused. Which video card do you have?

BTW, Welcome to TechIMO!

Naah, not at all.
Yesterday while writing a check I couldn't remember the date
Anyhow, depending on what games your running perhaps it just the limitation of the GF 3 card.
Still might want to try older drivers.

jerrygarcia,

Could you clarify your comments on the PS for Ti 4200 cards, as I have had countless crashes in high end games and have run out of options - could it be the PS?

If you have the retail box still, check the power requirements. I know on a couple that I have, it says on the box 'Minimum 350w ps'.

Need your old Detonator driver? Check here

Try them until you find the one that works best for you. I found that the 43.xx drivers worked very well with my Ti4200's.

Also, run a proggy to erase all of the old leftover bits of the previous detonator. Like Det destroyer.
