usb 2.0 running at 1.1?
I got one of those flash USB memory drives because im sick of slow floppy disks for rewriteable media... nehow
Its a microadvantage 256MB, the brand office max has been having rebate deals on the last couple months.
Whenever I plug it into my computer:
Windows XP
XP 2000+
Soyo Dragon Ultra KT333 mobo,
I get a little bubble that says
"Hi-speed usb device plugged into non hi-speed usb hub"
Now... these usb ports are wired into the 2 usb 2.0 controllers on the mobo.. I've never really had any troulbe with them functioning (usb printer hooked up to them, also used them for my mp3 player which was usb 1.1), however didnt know if the 2.0 ever worked.
Now.. I have the usb 2.0 drivers installed, and in the device manager it lists a usb 2.0 root hub device, along with a VIA usb 2.0 enhanced host controller, along with some other things such as a USB mass storage device and 2, usb root hubs, and 4 "VIA rev 5 or later usb universal host controllers"
The memory stick does however seem to write slow, at least for what ud expect from a usb 2.0 device and that bubble seems to confirm that its only running at usb 1.1
It took about 4 minutes to write a 130MB file to it.
When I clikc the bubble it gives me a recommendation saying the usb mass storage will function at reduced speed. You must add a hi-speed usb host controller to this computer to obtain maximum performance (which appeared to be listed in the device manager, usb 2.0 enhanced host controller)
Anyone have any ideas why its not working?
