"CPU PnP Setup" Locked??

When I access my BIOS and go into the "CPU PnP Setup", it says:

CPU Brand: Intel
CPU Type: Pentium 4
CPU Ratio: Locked
CPU Frequency: 133MHz *in light gray*

I would like to know why it says "locked" in cpu ratio?

Mother board:

ECS P4VXASD2+ Release 09/05/2002
AMI Bios V 1.21.12

and on the bottom of the screen it says:

62-0905-001131-00101111-VIA_P6-P4VXASD2+-

I would also like to know how I can OC my proc with this mobo if anyone knows.

If you need any other information, just let me know.

Thanks in advance.

CPU Ratio , I think, is the same thing as the multiplier and those are locked meaning you cant change that setting. So the only way to overclock it is to increase the frequency. P4s and the new models of XPs are now being locked.

Well I cant increase the frequency because is not selectable. I cant do anything with that screen, besides looking at the information. Is there any way around this?

looks like his FSB is locked as well. ECS has never relly been known to have great boards for oc'ing so you might have to search for an aftermarket bios

btw we have the same question over here how odd http://www.techimo.com/forum/t93621.html

How do I know which "aftermarket" bios is compliant with my board?

you'd have to search it through google, but I didn't find anything from my basic search. Seems as though these might not be oc'able but AFAIK your running at 533fsb 133x4 {guy correct me if I'm wrong} And as i said ECS isn't a very oc friendly board no matter what you do to it.

I'm planning on buying an ECS mobo myself, except I'm running it has a server and won't need to overclock. Even the guy at Fry's said ECS mobos suck.

I dont really find the people at Fry's to be reliable. Most of them dont know what they're talking about. I also dont think ECS boards suck, but there just not that great for overclocking, as I figured out gradually. Its fine for regular pc users. The only problem I had with this board is that I bought generic 512MB pc133 and found that it wont start up with generic. Heard that the VIA chipset is picky (not sure, based on what i've heard). But I got some Mushkin 512mb pc133, and it started up just fine. I've had this board since January 2003 and I havent had any problems to date (knock on wood).

I checked ECS's web site for a bios update, but I dont know if any of the bios updates for my board would help with unlocking this screen.

http://www.ecs.com.tw/download/dw_sp...?product_id=51

My bios version is one of the ones dated 2002/9/5
