New hardware found wont go away

I just loaded Win 98SE on a new PC. The motherboard is a Gigabytge GA-8PE667Ultra. All works fine except every time I boot the PC, new hardware is found, it is 'PCI Universal Serial Bus'. The OS wants to install this hardware and wants to know where the drivers are. I tried searching on the mobo CD but not found. I also tried a win98 disk but still drivers not found. The mobo has 2 built in USB ports plus it came with a 4 port USB connector that plugs onto the motherboard. The only things on the PCI slots are a IEEE1394 controller and SCSI controller card. The drivers are installed and working fine for these devices. The mobo has onboard Lan and sound. Video is on the AGP slot. Any ideas how to solve this?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Go to My Computer and right click on it and press Properties. Then press Hardware tab and press Device Manager. Then disable the PCI Universal Serial Bus. These directions are for XP but Windows 98 should be similiar. Or go to the control panel and see if you find a icon called System.

The strange thing is it does not show up in device manager. I do have several USB serial bus controllers, none of those have the yellow exclamation. Under system there is a PCI bus but it too is ok.

Does 98 have Windows Update, on Windows XP it can find updated drivers for you. Or go to the mobo manufactures website and see if you can find drivers.

sounds like you are clicking "cancel" or something..instead...just tell it to go ahead and look for drivers etc....when it cant find them it will leave it labeled "unknown device" or something like that, but at least it wont keep detecting it.

http://tw.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/...67%20Ultra.htm Try installing those USB 2.0 Drivers that very bottom of that page. Make sure you get the Win98SE ones.

Rand you did it!!! I installed the drivers for USB 2.0 and all is working. I did go to there website at first and I did see that, however I figured since win98 does not work with USB 2.0 I did not think I needed to install the 2.0 drivers. Anyway it installed ok and no longer keeps asking for a driver. Thanks guys for the help.
