1250 IDX files? Do I need them?

Just browsing through my C:\ folder and noticed I have 1250 files incrementally named CA00.IDX thru STUC.IDX.

All are 1KB in size and all were created on 03/05/03 @ 1:08 P.M.

I opened some with Notepad and each only have a couple of unintelligible characters.

What are they and do I need them?

They might be created by Nero when you burn a CD. I think you can delete them.
