Wireless-G/B conflict

My friend got her own computer for christmas, and shes going to share the internet connection with another computer via wireless network. however, the router is wireless-G while the network card is wireless-B. I wasn't sure if the two could possibly work together or if one would have to be exchanged, and if so which?

i was just shopping at newegg earlier today for wireless routers, and every single one that was 802.11g reported itself as being "b" backwards compatible. You should be fine.

G is backwards compatible but I know firsthand not all B devices will work with it. I'm not sure if my case is a WAP problem or client card problem.

Proxim AP-2000 WAP and an HP Wireless JetDirect (model 380x I think).

Also, 1 B card on a G AP will slow all clients down to 11Mb.

That isn't really a problem silicon, the cable connection is not fast enough to take advantage of the better wireless G speeds i think. Also i do believe that it is a linksys wireless network card, not sure about that though.
