Gaming HDD Boot Win XP prob (lost clusters...)

Hi,
I'v got a veeeeeery BIG Problem with my PC.
Two weeks ago i bought my new computer :

----------------------------------------

Microsoft Windows XP Professional
v.5.1.2600 compilation 2600

CPU AMD 2500 XP
Mobo A7N8X2.0
RAM 2x256 Infineon DDR400
GFX Gigabyte Radeon 9600 Pro
HDD Western Digital S-ATA 120 GB
PSU Levicom 450 Watt

----------------------------------------

The Problem :
Windows is now installed for 2 days, and it begin to make problems with my hdd. Every time i

shut down my pc, my WD DISK is making a pretty LOUD ' CLAP ' noise. Dunno why, but i'v checked it, and everything seemed ok. I've downloaded the WD soft stuff from their FTP, but
it couldnt find any error. The problem occuers even when i go to standby mode (HDD power
off). Non of my programs, scandisk, Norton Disk doctor could find everything !

Now, every time i start my machine, scandisk is starting with it and finds some lost files etc, and when i stop the

process i always get a Blue screen (of Death!) with a critical error. After 10 'power on's' (when not, normally i didnt get one, only sometimes) my system begins to freeze completly, and i have to reinstall the whole system.

PLZ help me. If u need any specific informations, mail or write me in this forum. I would be

very pleased about your feedback !

Even though your PC is new, your hard drive may be defective. It should not make loud noises. I would return it for a replacement.

It should not make noise at any time. Just a constant hum maybe while its on, but not a 'clap' sound. And if its always finding bad clusters that usually means the drive is bad.

It shouldn't make loud noises Period. Sounds like a bad HD to me.
Just curious is it a brand name computer or did you have it built for you?

Run scandisk, when it reports bad clusters you will know the hd is going.

Your hd should have come with some type of floppy disk of drive utilitys, use the hd floppy disk to do diag.

Scandisk etc havent found ANY BAD SECTORS, this ISNT THE PROBLEM. I've already checked the HDD utilities (*WD STUFF) and nothing was found. The SMART status, and even the temperature are normal.

no problem
I was using an old 1.7 GB Fujitsu HDD and it worked pretty nice (just slow :P).
My PSUs brand is a good one, maybe not the best (Antec etc) but its enought for me. The system is working very stable, havent had any problems.
Even the 3DMark03 scores are normal (~3300). Everything is looking fine. I've also tested the HDD with sandra04 ... succesfully ... no errors, good benchmark scores.
