Should I get the 8X Lite-On DVD-RW?

Thinking about getting it. Free shipping, and free t-shirt/hat/other stuff.

It's only $144.

I will be googling reviews, anyone here have one?

Newegg Linkage

The only 8x about it is the DVD+R. And I have yet to see +R media at 8x.

Ditto...

what will you be using it for? backing up dvds?

or just backing up data?

There won't be a huge difference in speed if you back up dvds...

it takes around 15-20min (with a 16x dvd reader) to rip a movie to your HD.... with a 4x dvd burner, it takes around 15-20 to burn a dvd...

so the whole proccess is around 30-40min

so the difference will be of around 10min less....

8x DVD+R in the UK...

I guess you should be able to get them thru Ebuyer in the US too??

(BTW I'm looking at getting an 8x DVDWriter in the next couple of days too - i'm just checking thru some reviews first. )

Haven't had any problems with my Lite-On 16x DVD-player, 12x10x32 cd-rw, 48x24x48 cd-rw, or my 411 dvd burner.
