Win98 Cab File

Hi,
And,
Merry Christmas
To everone.
I am in trouble, I need some help with My Clean install.
I have reformatted my Hard drive and I am trying to reinstall Win98 but it get's so far and it is telling me that
Win98_44.Cab Is corrupted and it will not go any farther.
Is there anywhere that I can go to Download this Cab File. I have tried to Copy the disk "Win98" but when I try to Copy the "Win98" Folder it get's to the same place and I get the same error.
Please help.
Thank's

Welcome to TechIMO!!

I've never used this but maybe this will help.

http://www.cab-repair.com/

Says it can repair corrupted files on CD although from a clean install I don't see how.

Free trial - nothing to lose.

Might also try cleaning the disk.

A longshot, but is the cdrom drive a new one or sort of old one? Possibly a newer cdrw type drive can read it better if it is scratched or dirty. Check it and see if it is scratched or dirty etc.

Thank's

Thank's for all the reply's I have tried everthing, Cleaning, Different CD-ROM, tried the program that was suggested. Nothing, NADA!!
Here is the exact error message that I am getting.
"cannot copy win98_44: parameter is incorrect."
So I guess that the only thing that I can do Is go to Wally-World "WalMart" in the morning and buy a New Win98.
I once did a search in Yahoo and I found the Cab file's for Win98 that could be downloaded but! I do not remember how to get back there.

Hi,

What exactly do you mean you tried "different CD ROM" does this refer to the install disc or the drive?

Here is a site that shows a whole bunch of files that belong in the Win98_44.Cab file. This site also carries a pretty bold disclaimer about these files as well.

http://www.dictacomm.com/Win_Dll/98_2nd/W_dll_Files.htm

Hope this helps

Vickip, I think offering to e someone a whole OS on this board may just contravene a couple of the rules.

Cheers

Thank's,
Did not mean to Start a Fire Here.
But! I have my Own Install disk (Win98) that is bought and paid for, with my own Key number's.
It is just that I have a corrupted Cab file and I thought that I could maybe download that file somewhere, Did not know that it was against anybody's law!!
Anyway, When I say I have tried different CD-ROM I ment to say different Drive's. I am using Win98 Not SE! I know that these file's are on the web, I have seen them before.
I just do not remember where
Nodnerd2, Thank you for the site but, I do not think that it will help me much.
