Imageready 3.0 Performance = Crap
Has anyone else noticed that Imageready 3.0 doesn't run exceptionally good? This is based purely from my own experience with the program. Especially when using the text tool.
Anyone else have any comments about Imageready?

Well, I use Image Ready and haven't noticed it. Could you explain more in detail? You said it was especially noticeable in Text Tool... And what is your system spec?

When typing using the text tool, the letters show up about 1 second after pressing the letter. Usually I can be waiting 7 seconds before the entire word shows up.
My system specs.
Athlon 800
Aopen Mk33 mobo
196 megs of PC 133
20 gig Maxtor 7200rpm ATA 66
Nvidia TNT2 M64
Windows 2000
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Well, I tested the Image Ready 3.0 Text Tool on 4 different systems and the text appears as soon as I type it it. One of the system I tested has a lower spec than your system and no problems... I have a good feeling there is a process running in the background that's taking away the processor time... Open up Image Ready 3.0 and then look in "Processes" to see if any prgram is using the CPU.... Only thing that should be using the processor is "System Idle Process" which would be at about 95~99% when the system is left unused.... 7 seconds for the font to appear after typing is very abnormal...
Here are the systems I tested on...
Dual P3 @1.09Ghz / 1024MB
Dual P3 @500Mhz / 768MB
T-Bird @ 1.4Ghz / 320MB
Celeron @ 945Mhz / 256MB
Celeron @ 700Mhz /192MB

My TBird 1.1Ghz has a 500ms delay after typing before it actually appears... (Win2k)
THis was with Photoshop, Outlook, UD, ICQ and winamp running...
Even if I typed a huge sentance of garbage, the entire thing would show up in 500ms......

Got to be something in the background for sure. I dont have that kind of delays with image ready, ms outlook, and photoshop running at the same time! My system is lower than any you have listed.
Celeron 300@450
128mb pc 133

compared to a faster system with more ram yes. But it isn't enough to notice unless you are really in a hurry or watching for it!
JD

I'm constantly running UD in the background, but I didn't think that it would impact upon the performance of Imageready. I tried closing it, but I still experienced the same problems.
I don't have any of the same problems in Photoshop though. Maybe my computer doesn't like Imageready.
Hmmmm. I'm stumped. |
