Two beeps then one more ??

Installed motherboard able to boot to bios finr but not to windows.
On start-up I get two quick beeps-pause- one more beep unclear what this means.
When computer boots to HD, shows drive info then screen goes black. Ctrl/Alt/Del the computer keeps showing the same screen over and over and hard dives acts like it is about to start then black screen again????????

Need more info. What is the model brand/model?

Is this a new install, or just new mobo?

Did you clear the cmos, and let the system redetect the new configuration?

Start at the beginning, and you will get help along the way.

Clear the BIOS with the jumper or remove the battery for 5 minutes or so. Remove the RAM module and replace it..being sure to mash it hard into the socket...do not help the end latches..they will latch themselves when the RAM is seated.

90% of all POST failures are RAM related (the other 10% are video) LOL.

Additional information on computer POST / Beep Codes.

I don't now your BIOS brand but, even so, I don't see 2 short, pause,and then1 more.

1 long and 2 short is generally a video problem.

Try re-seating your video card.

This is an older board, model m748mr / xcel- 2000/ chipset pct789 with AMI bios. This is a totaly different thread/computer problem.
On start up it beeps 2 times short pause then another beep.
With I get into bios it does not save the settings when I reset them as simple as date and time.
I am in the process of resetting cmos jumper and checking battery.

I changed the battery, check all connections, made sure the ram is in completely, it still beeps and will not load O/S. It also will not boot from floppy. My conclusion this is a baaad motherboard.

OK. The beeps went away and is saving the Bios settings (bad batt ??). Now it loads and then shos hdd and then stops. does not load O.S. and I can not boot from floppy.
