usb to serial?

we got my dad a palm tungsten t for christmas. he has 95 on his computer (mac on his work laptop) and we just found out that you need to use serial and not the usb for windows 95.

my question, what is the cheapest way to connect the palm tungsten t to his computer via serial. is there a connector to go from usb to serial (plug in usb, and output serial)? or do we have to dish out another $30 for a new cradle that has serial?

It does. That's why I'm confused. To answer your question butch, the serial bus does not have the bandwidth to handle USB data transfer. In other words, serial is too slow for USB.

Well I think only 95 OSR2 supports usb. Check on the back to see if you got a usb port first. If it does, you can prolly just use usb.

ok, well it took me about 20 minutes to plug in the usb to his computer... for some reason the usb plugs were not sitting right and i had to physically force them into position.. i will update you on whether or not the usb works soon

Yes, USB can work on Win95 OSR 2.x, IF the USB supplement pack is installed. Can be found on the Win95 CD. File is named usbsupp.exe.

well, we got it running off of the cd, and the only option for connecting it was either com1 or com 2 serial.... it also said c:/windows/palmregdat.txt can not be found.... (maybe since it cant see the palm).

so back to the serial plan
