PC Wont Turn Off, Keeps Restarting

Last night I went to turn off my PC and it turned right back on like as if I restarted it. I have Windows 2000.

Hi,

The good news is that there are some pretty smart guys and gals on this board, the bad news is none I have seen so far claims to be psychic .

If you could provide a bit of info as to System Specs and stuff you are running it might help to get you an answer to your problems

Cheers

Hi,

I would tend to think that you have something hanging on that is causing this to happen.

I would go into Task Manager and see what processes there are running when you go to shut down. You may be surprised just how much crap runs in the background out of sight out of mind. One of these may be causing you to restart when you go to shutdown.

You could start by turning off the proggies you listed as being running one at a time when you go to shutdown and try shutting down when they are off.

I don't know enough about 2K to say exactly how few processes you need to run 2K but I am sure someone else here wil be able to advise you further.

Cheers
