Problems detecting SATA HDD and Optical Drive

I have recently setup a new P4 3.0ghz rig, with a QDI P4I865GA Mobo.

Its current BIOS version installed is v1.5. I will be updating these to v1.7 to see if this makes a difference.

Here is the current problem.

This is a totally new system and I am going to install Windows ME onto a Seagate 80gb SATA HDD. These of course need no jumper setup and in the manual it states that in BIOS it should be set to 'Auto' (as an alternative for jumpers). This is all fine.

I also have a CD/DVD Burner combo and I need this to run the Windows ME start up disk. I have plugged in both this Optical drive and the SATA HDD correctly.

The boot order is:

CD
Hard Disk
Floppy.

When I boot the PC, it only ever finds one of these!
If the CD and Hard Disk are plugged in, then it only finds the Hard Disk. So i cannot put in the CD to install Windows ME.

If just the optical drive is plugged in, then when I put the CD in, it says there is no Hard Disk to install too.

I have installed drivers for the hard disk but I am not having any luck.

How can I fix this?

I am hoping that a simple BIOS upgrade will fix this.

Thanks for any replys.

OK, I'm pissed with the shop I bought it from.

BIOS updated, everything is working.

Hopefully I'll get a bit of cash back
