Need paperport help, easy stuff

Ok, I had been using paperport with a visioneer 1 touch 8100 scanner on another comp.....now i have migrated to this comp....so I moved the scanner back here and reinstalled paperport etc.

Ok, I figured how to change the default folder to what I want.

But...somehow on the other comp...what it would do is save the scans as, like "scan23, dec 23.bmp" ok, cool, I would then right click and click on "item properties" and the name would be in a little window and I could highlight it and change it to something more like "staples card reader rebate stuff upc dec23 03.bmp"


ok, so now when I right click on do "item properties" I just get the little thing with the "general" tab and nothing on it to be changed.


Anyone know how I can change it to be able to change the name??

If its not clear ask and Ill try to clarify.

Edit..also, its saving the stupid thing huge, if I were to try to print a simple amazon invoive it was be like 6 pages, lol. Whats up with that?

I'm not that familiar with paperport, but it sounds like you might have missed a setting in the defaults/preferences. Maybe an update to paperport that you missed when you migrated from one machine the other?

I'm not an expert on this but I used to have a visioneer scanner. For me the paperport software was especially buggy with windows xp. It also caused my system to crash using 98.

Are you trying to rename the file in paperport or explorer? If Paperport used to let you rename a file in your old system but not in the new system, I'd blame the software.

You probably already know this but you can change the resolution and size of your scans by opening options. You can also save different settings and program your buttons. For example, I had to tweak the copy settings because the default setting was too light.

Paperport has some cool features. I could drag a text file onto the wordprocessor icon and it would open up the ocr prog and run it. Same with faxing and photo editing. So when it worked it was great, but it wasn't worth the problems it caused and I was happy to get a new (cheap) all-in-one scanner with software that actually worked.
