artifacts in games

whenever i play counter strike, call of duty, medal of honor, and starwars jedi knight i see artifacts. In counter strike the artifacts show up on nade explosion spots, in water, on lights, sprays, when i zoom, and on some other stuff. I have the new cat 3.10 and i dont over clock. On openGl the artifacts are solid and on D3D they are dotted with white specs. When my resolution is high the artifacts become larger. Ive tried reinstalling, turning it off, ive opened up my tower and the card looks ok. If u guys have any suggestion plz reply.

im running on

Windows xp pro

256 mb radeon 9800 xt

1 gb ram

2.6 ghz

thnx,

hmm...just to make sure, you've plugged in the extra power cable, right? your fan is spinning, all of that.

what are your card temps like?

Also, what version of directx is installed and do you have service pack 1 installed?

if this continues you might take it back, sometimes defective cards can act like that.
