Now this may seem a little stupid, but...
I have an idea. I have a small HDD thats currently inside my PC. It's a small HDD and I don't have anything on it. I have also found a box full of USB cables and all that. I thinking of throwing them out.. But, since the cables carry their own power from the PC, could I create a "portable storage device" by sticking a USB cable on the HDD? I know what each of the wires on the USB cable mean:
red: VCC (5 volt, max. 100mA/500mA)
black: Ground
white: D0-
green: D0+
[shield]
... I am just not sure about the IDE cable.
Is this possible?
