Smc.exe

My system will occassionally get real slow. I checked my Windows Task Manager, and I found that system process Smc.exe(Sygate Firewall) is using 98-99% of the CPU. If I reboot, it uses almost nothing, 0-2%, and my system runs fine. Is there a way to prevent this process from using up all that system resource without rebooting or turning off my firewall?

My specs are:

Windows XP Home
ASUS P4S8X
Intel P4 2.4ghz
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
1gig PC 2700 DDR RAM

Im not really familiar with sygate..have you checked their website for faqs?

mabey some spyware is taking hold of it make sure you run the latest updates of adaware and spybot

I checked Sygates FAQ's, no help there. I will run Adaware and Spybot after work today, see if that help's. But I run those weekly, so I doubt that will help.

Don't know if it will help or not. I use Zone Alarm so I'm not faimilar with Sygate.
