I've also been looking for a USB spec, unfortunately I've yet to find one. I just ended up purchasing some already made USB adapters (Super JoyBox 5). I then modded the units into various cases so the controllers plug right into the side of the computer. Much better than having a dangling adapter hooked up all the time.

P.S. If you find a USB spec please let me know.

Well, this isn't what you are looking for, but Radio Shack sells a USB -> PSX Adaptor that works beautifully.

Best part? It is only $9. I purchased it, and I love it.
