help!how to delete a directory

hi, i'm new to this forum and i have a problem. i'm using windows xp pro on my C-drive. how can i delete the directory D:\system volume information with its subdirectories?
i downloaded sp2 from http://www.softpedia.com and tried to install it. it didn't work because of some missing files. never mind. the only thing it did, it installed that directory on D:\system volume information. the D-drive is normally empty, because i kept it free for a second OS. so, how can i get rid of this.

i forgot to tell you that i formatted the D-drive, but the directory is still there.

I don't believe you can delete it as it is a part of the operating system.

is it a problem to ur computer? has it ever disturb u while ur at work?

I also have those, i can only see'm at Acd See. But i couldn't see it in Windows Explorer. I notice that after I have installed Norton Anti Virus software.

I select all of the known directories in there and just 'deleted' it. It should be fine after that.

this directory is not a part of my Os. my Os is on my C-Drive. i didn't install sp2. it came out when i tried to install sp2. so if its a part of sp2, which is not on my computer.
i'm sorry, i.m not a tech. if i cannot delete it, how can i move it to the c-drive?

it always tells me , this directory is in use. it cannot removed or deleted

how did you format your d drive was it in dos or windows...if you did it in windows try doing it in dos

i tried this. then it asked me for the current volume label. i wrote down like its on my drive DISK1_VOL2(D. now it tells me that this is an invalid name.??????????????????????????????????
