Is this watercooler any good?

I'm interested in watercooling my 2500+ (at 2.2Ghz, 400 fsb, stock voltages) to curb the noise and bring the temps down. Average temps at 100% load with FaD is 43c roughly, depending on ambient temperature. Here's what I've come up with:

http://www.xoxide.com/evecwacokit.html

Any good? I want something that's reliable and won't bust on me, and it better cool my proc better than my Coolermaster X-Dream. It seems fairly compact as it sits in a drive bay, but if it doesn't cool what good is it? Also, will it attach to my AthlonXP?

Cheap watercoolers aren't all that great, they only lower the temperatures and can't maintain those low temperatures in overclocked enviornments. I bought the Corsair HydroCool200 unit in July from monarchcomputer.com, and it's a great watercooler, it cools my 2500+ @ 2.37 Ghz, so that's a healthy 540 MHz OC. I run two instances of THINK and it hardly goes about 50*C unless the heat is on because the fan intake from the HydroCool sucks it all in and raises the water temps.

You can easily build your own watercooling system for $100 and it would perform better than the Evercool kit. I'd say that it's just not worth it.

someone had a great thought in a different thread:

look at how much you are gonna spend on water cooling for overclocking. now look at the price of the processor that is that fast at stock speeds. if lower, just upgrade and save the money and time.

now if you want the water cooling to be cool, then go ahead and spend the money, but otherwise, 9/10 times you can get a newer processor for the same price, and then overclock that on its stock hsf.....

just my poor butt talking...

Alright well I may just get an Aero 7+, as watercooling is expensive as it is. What I'd like to do is get:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...=BROWSE&depa=1

And pair it with a nice fan, but the thing would probably crush my poor proc, and that would make me unhappy. I'd turn into the Hulk as a matter of fact, knowing I was out $90. I take my PC places, and this thing doesn't seem to be the perfect thing for a LAN comp.

if all you want is decrease noise - then by all means, go for the watercooling kit.

however, if you just want to lower the temperature due to overclocking - just get a good heatsink and fan and use it. less hassle, less cash spent. of course temps will not be as low as a watercooling system, but there is no harm in running a processor at temps as high as 55c (during load).

dont believe me?

i run an amd 3600+ (2.4ghz, rock hard stable as in prime95 would give up before the system would ) and i can even hit 3800+ (2.5ghz) speeds with my 2500+ on MSI mobo with a slk900 and a thermaltake smartcase fanII. temps hover about 46c at 3600+ speeds and about 48c at 3800+ speeds.

and we are not talking loud here, just about 37db of noise... easily tolerable.

get the 900u or the 947u and you wont have to worry about crushing the cpu since it attaches to the board. i've got a 947u and it is heavy but mounting it to the board is easy (if or once you have the board out). i've got my 2600+ at 2205mhz and it's never above 40C.

Well as long as it's better than my XDream it's OK. I'm not real fond if the noise my current cooler makes, and it's aluminum only. Do you think an Aero 7+ would be better than my whirlygig I use now?
