Outdoors More problems with my router

So today I wake up... I try to get on the internet on one of my computers, but it won't work. The other one works fine. Now neither of them work. ATM I have this computer plugged directly into my modem... what the hell went wrong?

It gave me an error message about not being able to renew my IP, so I tried doing it in the command window. Then it gave me an error about my DHCP server. I tried reseting the router, but that didn't work either. Anyone care to help me out?

I should probably add that the LEDs are lit up everywhere... Connection for both computers, WAN. They're also lit up on the ethernet card. Did my router die? I can't ping it or anything...

What brand router? I just had a Linksys BEFSX41 do that. Worked fine for a bit, and then lost connections to the PCs. I RMA'd it.

Return

Authorization

Basically, it's sending the router back in for replacement/refund

One thing you could try is disabling DHCP in the router and setting IPs for each computer manually.

Well on occasion they just need to be unplugged etc. Unplug the router and cable modem and turn the comps off.

Turn on the cable modem....let all the lights come on showing that it has its cable connection....THEN turn on the router...let it show its connection light for the cable modem signal...THEN reboot the comps.

Either it'll get you online right away or you might have to "release and renew" you ip address from each comp.

this can happen if the power goes off foe a second or two. and the above post will correct it.

the way to prevent this from happening again, get a ups and plugg the modem and router into it.
