it would help if you told us what OS you are using but it sounds like an ip address problem try renewing your ip address.

Well, since its a PPP connection there really isnt a "renew" for the IP. If you do 'winipconfig' do you have an IP/gateway? What did you change in the TCP/IP settings?

I did not change anything myself

I was trying to install Adelphia Power Link(local High Speed Cabel) and since then nothing works. So I uninstaled the Adelphia software and reinstalled my 56K modem

on w98 its "winipcfg"

sometimes you have to uninstall and reinstall dialup networking in these cases.

if you want to use the gui its "winipcfg".

in dos its "ipconfig /all"

to release and renew from dos prompt its "ipconfig /release" then "ipconfig /renew"

I would try uninstalling then reinstalling diapup networking though.

or do an "ipconfig /all" and post it up so peeps can look at it and see if anything is amiss.

Start IE then go into Tools>internet options>connection and make sure it has you dail up listed and always dial default connection is checked.

I used to see this problem a lot on WinME...in the shop I used to work at...didnt see it as much on 98...but it is a classic WinME problem..we used to just uninstall and reinstall Dialup networking from control panel/add remove programs/windows setup.
