Kids Reistalling Win 95

I'm trying to reinstall Win 95 and I'm somewhat confused. On Win 98, all I have to do is type " setup C: " off the boot disk and volla I'm in. But on Win 95, it doesn't install. Could use some help! Thanks!

I assume you're booting with a boot disk with CD-ROM support? From the command prompt, just type
X:\setup
Where X is the CD-ROM drive (on bootup, you'll see a line displayed Drive X: = Driver MSCD001, that's how you know which is the CD-ROM).

Thanks for the quick response! I'm installing on a NEC Notebook, so the cd rom is not installed when the floppy drive is.

you can also do it if you have some way to connect it to amother computer.
the biggest problem you will run into is getting all the drivers for the hardware on that notebook, w95 will not have them, unless it is the w95 cd for that system, kinda like a recover cd is.

Does that machine have the ability to boot from the CD? You could create a boot CD on another computer.

Thanks for the help! Too much of a problem with Win 95. With Win 98, I was able to boot from the CD rom, and install 98.

A common error is to boot from disk and hten try to run setup from what normally is the CD drive (d:\). When you boot from floppy, by default the CD drive is e:\ not d:\. Boot from floppy and then change directory to e:\ then do a dir/p and look for setup.
