CABLE PROBLEM?!?!?!HELP!!

Well, this is *deleted me off. ok, lets get started.

Ok, my internet worked fine, i could go on MSN, play online games, then all of a sudden, bam.

The internet worked find, but, NO MSN. i thot, ok, a problem with the server, so i decided to play counter-strike, no go. sat there trying to find servers. so i then decided to update my Virus Scanner(McAfee), then to my luck, said the connection to the internet is down or sumthin like that. this made me very confused, i was on the internet as it said that.

I was using windows XP, but i thot, hey, it might be a virus that cant be fixed, so, i Reformated my comp, put XP back in, SAME PROBLEM!!!!!

so, in a last effort, i, i, i reverted back to, WINDOWS 98 , lol. thinking that my XP wasnt the retail version(I Know, im bad) any ways, same problem, no MSN, no counter-strike, no WINDOWS UPDATES either, i dont get it guys, im Using Cogeco Cable(local cable company). I thot it might have been a problem with their servers, but to my luck, my frend in the same area with the same internet, had NO PROBLEM what so ever.

Guys, please help me becuase i need MSN and games over the net. thank you all in advance, and PLEASE help if you can,

Did you try resetting your modem?

Unplug power to modem, shut down, wait a few minutes, re-power the modem, wait till all lights are lit, and then re-boot.

well, thanks for the welcome, lol....u would nbot beleive all the things ive tried, but hey, might as well try that again, thanks, still need help guys!

P.S, my Internet still works, but when I use things that didnt come with windows(counter-strike, MSN, iMesh, and so on...) it just doesnt conect, am I missing something?!?!? its really annoying, thanks
